There’s something about donuts that brings a smile to everyone’s face. Whether they’re glazed, sprinkled, cake-style, filled with cream, or topped with colorful frosting, donuts have a way of turning an ordinary day into a special treat. That’s why we’re excited to celebrate National Donut Day on Friday, June 5th!

National Donut Day is a tradition that dates back to 1938 when it was established by The Salvation Army to honor the “Donut Lassies,” volunteers who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. Today, it’s a fun opportunity for everyone to enjoy one of America’s favorite treat together.
How Our Family Celebrates
In addition, to enjoying donuts year-round whether its at breakfast or a special mid-afternoon treat, celebrating National Donut Day has become a little tradition we all look forward to each year at the beginning of Summer. National Donut Day is the first Friday in June each year and many donut shops offer special promotions and discounts to celebrate. Each year we look to see what is happening and choose a spot. Everyone gets to pick out their own special donut and ENJOY!
It’s not just about the donuts—it’s about spending time together, sharing laughs, and creating simple memories. It's simple moments like this that make us slow down, enjoy and be present.
