Earth Day is April 22 and it is a day that serves as our annual reminder to slow down and appreciate our planet and all of its natural beauty. We want to share with little ones about our planet, the impact we have, how we can help preserve the planet and how to celebrate everything it has to offer. A walk around your backyard, neighborhood or park is a great way to appreciate all of the beauty around you and get some fresh air.
To get ready for Earth Day this year, we went to a local park to explore and find flowers and leaves for our new flower press.
Little Owly has new personalized flower presses that are both functional and a beautiful heirloom you can pass on to future generations. Pressing flowers is a great way to preserve memories from nature walks plus a fun and kid friendly project! (Flower Press).
We also read the book, I Can Save the Earth!: One Little Monster Learns to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (linked here).
Flower pressing is a great way to preserve the beauty of flowers by flattening and drying them. Flowers are placed inside the press and tightened down with screws. After a few weeks, flowers are removed and they can be used in many ways. We will be using ours pressed flowers for a craft to celebrate Earth Day.
Now go out, explore and have fun! Note all of the different textures, colors, scents and more the flowers and leaves have collecting.
Have fun and share with us! #LOCreativeCircle #mylittleowly
